Oscar's night 2011

La notte del 27 Febbraio, al Kodak Theatre di Hollywood, si è svolta la cerimonia di premiazione degli Oscar. Questa 83° edizione ha fatto davvero discutere. È stata criticata molto la classica impostazione molto ingessata, accademica e scontata, ma un po’ risollevata grazie alla fresca e briosa conduzione di James Franco, con un geniale travestimento da Marylin Monroe, e di una bellissima Anna Hathaway.

E che dire degli abiti? Devo ammettere di essere rimasta un po’ delusa, li ho trovati molto banali, scontati, se non per qualche piacevole eccezione. Per esempio non sono riuscita a capire l’abito di Scarlett Johansson, un lungo in pizzo color prugna, oppure quello di Penelope Cruz che non l’ha per niente valorizzata! Colori troppo spenti per Cody Horn e banalità esagerata per Jennifer Lawrence. Regina di eleganza è stata senza dubbio la giovane presentatrice, con un favoloso Valentino per il Red Carpet, un abito Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, un simpatico smoking di Lanvin, un vestito da ballo firmato Vivienne Westwood, un Oscar De La Renta con frange, un Versace, un Armani privè in tessuto lamé, e per chiudere un abito di pizzo e strass di Tom Ford. Degne di nota anche Livia Firth, Nathalie Portman, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman, Sharon Stone, e infine l’eccentrica Helena Bonham Carter.

Non posso che essere soddisfatta infine per le statuette assegnate: “Il Discorso Del Re” ha fatto da padrone, con un Colin Firth davvero straordinario: miglior film, miglior regia, miglior attore e miglior sceneggiatura originale. Gli altri concorrenti si sono dovuti in qualche modo accontentare, dividendosi gli altri premi: miglior attrice al Cigno nero (Natalie Portman), i due non protagonisti a The Fighter (Melissa Leo e la sua scandalosa parolaccia, e Christian Bale), sceneggiatura non originale, montaggio e colonna sonora a The Social Network, i premi tecnici a Inception.

On the night of 27th February 2011, the awards ceremony of the Oscars took place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. This 83 th edition did indeed discuss. The classic setting plaster, academic and obvious was criticized very much, but somewhat relieved thanks to the fresh and lively conducting of James Franco, with a clever disguise as Marilyn Monroe, and a beautiful Anne Hathaway.
And what about the clothes? I must admit I was a little disappointed, I found them very trivial, discounted, if not for a few pleasant exceptions. For example, I could not understand Scarlett Johansson’s dress, a long plum-colored lace or Penelope Cruz’s one! Too dull colors for Cody Horn and exaggerated triviality for Jennifer Lawrence. But the Queen of elegance was undoubtedly the young show girl, with a fabulous Valentino for the Red Carpet, a suit Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, a nice smoking by Lanvin, a ball dress signed Vivienne Westwood, an Oscar de la Renta with a fringe , a Versace, an Armani privé in lamé tissue, and eventually a dress with lace and sequins by Tom Ford. Worthy of note were also Livia Firth, Natalie Portman, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman, Sharon Stone, and then the eccentric Helena Bonham Carter.
I can finally be satisfied about the statuettes awarded: "The Speech of the King" played the main role, with a truly extraordinary Colin Firth: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay. The other competitors have had to somehow accommodate, splitting the other awards: best actress at the Black Swan (Natalie Portman), the two non-actors in The Fighter (Melissa Leo and his scandalous word, and Christian Bale), Adapted Screenplay , editing and soundtrack to The Social Network, Inception to the technical awards.

NOW I CAN TALK!

Oggi voglio parlarvi di uno dei miei gruppi preferiti: i Two Doors Cinema Club

Nel 2007, tre ragazzi irlandesi Alex Trimble, Kevin Baird e Sam Halliday, mettono insieme un gruppo fra i banchi di scuola, i Two Doors Cinema Club. L’anno dopo un’ etichetta francese, la Kitsuné,  decide di produrre qualche singolo e di lanciare anche l'LP. Ma è il 2010 che vede la pubblicazione del loro primo album, Tourist History. Quel che ne è uscito fuori è un misto di electro-pop e di dance, con alcune canzoni più commerciali, come la bellissima Something Good Can Work, altre più danzerecce come Cigarette In the Theatre  che dopo un inizio apparentemente quieto, grazie ai synth e alle chitarre, si fa più veloce, o I Can Talk (quanto gasa! La ascolterei tutto il giorno); altre ancora più melodiche, adatte per le pomiciate romantiche, tra cui This Is The Life o Come Back Home o Do You Wanna It All. Sicuramente il risultato che questi tre irlandesi volevano ottenere era qualcosa che mantenesse le gambe in continuo movimento, qualcosa di versatile, che fosse di easy listening, caratterizzato dai continui cambi di velocità, dall’allegria. Per quanto mi riguarda, credo ci siano proprio riusciti. Sul loro myspace (www. myspace.com/twodoorcinemaclub) potrete ascoltare alcuni di questi pezzi, e sono sicura che ne rimarrete addicted.

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite groups, the Two Doors Cinema Club!

In 2007, three Irish boys, Alex Trimble, Kevin Baird and Sam Halliday, bring together a group when they were yet in their classroom, the Two Doors Cinema Club. A year after, a French label, Kitsuné , decided to producesome single and also to launch the LP. But it is 2010 which saw the release of their first album, Tourist History .What they came out is a mix of electro-pop and dance, with some more commercial songs, like the beautifulSomething Good Can Work, others more danceable as Cigarette In The Theatre , after a seemingly quietstart thanks to the synth and on guitars, it gets faster, or I Can Talk (how pumps! I could hear it all day long),others more melodic, suitable for romantic snog, including This Is The Life, or Come Back Home or Do You Want It All. Surely the result that these three Irish wanted to get was something that would keep your legs in motion, something versatile, that would be easy listening, characterized by constant changes of speed, cheerful look. In my opinion, they have succeeded. You can hear some of these pieces on their MySpace (www. myspace.com / twodoorcinemaclub), and I'm sure you'll be addicted to them.
